Building for the Southern Alps

Queenstown sites look benign in the brochure photos. The reality, on the ground at 600 metres, is rather different — UV that destroys ordinary cladding, frost cycles that crack inferior concrete, and wind that finds every weakness in your envelope.

Our default specification is built around that reality: thicker insulation than code, robust thermal breaks, durable cladding fixings, and joinery rated for the climate. None of it is glamorous, but it's what makes the home livable for the next fifty winters.

The architecture sits on top of those decisions. When the building science is right, the design can be calm.
